Note that application deadlines don’t mean very much because schools sometimes find the ideal candidate long before the deadline (and hence are no longer looking), or sometimes they still haven’t found any suitable candidates long after the deadline (and hence are still looking). For example, I once returned to Italy from summer vacation and found a telegram notifying me that I had been selected for an interview, and I was supposed to reply within seven days.
